The Full Governing Body of Hatton School and Special Needs Centre meets seven times a year. We are constituted as follows:

 

  • Head Teacher Voting Governor
  • One Local Authority Representative Governor
  • One Staff Governor
  • Three Parent Governors
  • Seven Co-opted Governors 
  • Associate Governors are advisors and do not have voting rights

 

The Governors have opted not to adopt a committee structure but individual Governors have areas of responsibility such as Leadership and Management, Safeguarding, Finance, Health and Safety, Early Years, Premises Development and Governor Training.

 

 

 

Claire Downey - Chair of Governors

I have been a Governor at Hatton for a total of 9 years and have been the Special Schools Governor Representative on Redbridge Schools Funding Forum for a total of 6 years. My youngest son previously attended Hatton.

From 2001 to 2012 I was heavily involved in lobbying, working for and alongside my local council with a view to improving services for children with disabilities and Special Education Needs. I have been able to build on the skills I have developed through education and working in large multi-national corporations as a management consultant and put them to greater use in the public and voluntary sectors.

I am currently working as a Clerk to a number of charities in east London.

My particular area of responsibility as a Governor is Leadership and Management

Chris Peck - Vice Chair of Governors

I have been a Community Governor at Hatton since March 2010 and Vice Chair since January 2011.

I am a Chartered Civil Engineer and have worked in various roles in the Water Industry for 35 years.  I am also a Youth Group Leader at a church in Goodmayes.

My particular areas of responsibility as a Governor are Health & Safety.

My particular area of responsibility as a Governor is Finance.

 

 

Ann Thomas

I have been a Community Governor at Hatton for 10years.

My youngest son attended Hatton and he is now in college, as with most parents of children with additional needs I became passionate about SEN.

I am currently an SEN support worker in a children’s centre but have worked as a parent support worker  and also  with children and young people in schools and colleges.

My particular area of responsibility as a Governor is Early Years.

 

David Lee

I am a Associate Governor and have been a Governor at Hatton since 2007.

I have worked in the NHS for nearly 25 years and have held a number of board level positions. Currently with a community healthcare trust. I was an elected councillor for 8 years in a neighbouring borough and i'm currently also a co opted member of the Redbridge Council Housing and Social Services Scrutiny Committee.

I have 2 sons with special educational needs who attended Hatton.

My particular area of responsibility as a Governor is Leadership and Management.
